Property Description
The home was built around 1900, with a front porch to put your rockers on and a big, covered back porch for entertaining. This home is looking for someone to bring it back to its glory days.
It would also make a great bed and breakfast or a venue for weddings, etc...
Here is your home if you want to restore a piece of history.
Dr. Cline built the home in 1900. It has 5 bedrooms and 2 baths.
Out buildings include a 3-car detached garage, a furnace house, barn, chicken house, a small building/house, and Dr. Cline's office. There is also a second home that includes 2 bedrooms with a 3-year old metal roof.
The empty lot beside the house is included. That was the old location of Bailey's Store, which has been torn down. Dr. Cline was a country doctor who made house calls on his horse. He did everything from delivering babies to pulling teeth. He was sometimes paid with eggs and chickens.
His daughter Martha was born in the home in 1913. Martha was active in the Association of Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities. The APTA used to hold open houses in the home dressed in Antebellum dresses. Martha married Ted Whillocks and they lived out their life in the home. Ted was a prominent lawyer in Knoxville and was a Jefferson County Commissioner. He was responsible for the new Jefferson County High School and putting in 2 rest stops.
This was a home of prominence and loved by citizens in the community for years.
The house will need to be renovated. It is not in move in condition. There is currently not electricity due to the fact someone decided to steal copper wires. There is also damage to some ceilings and walls (but the roof was replaced 15 years ago).
